Muskoka

Muskoka, part of “Cottage Country” is full of history, breathtaking views, and offers a variety of properties from affordable cottages to lake front estates where you can put down your family roots and start to make memories.

Muskoka is conveniently located approximately a two-hour car drive north of Toronto and lies outside of the Greater Golden Horseshoe Region. It is a 2,500-square-mile natural playground that includes 8,699 miles of shoreline, 17 historic towns and villages, and countless waterfalls and lakes.

Muskoka extends from the rugged bedrock, white pine forests, and sandy beaches of Georgian Bay in the west, to the northern tip of the popular fishing destination of Lake Couchiching in the south, and to the western border of Algonquin Provincial Park with its forests, rivers and numerous lakes in the east.

Muskoka is a scenic area sprinkled with picturesque villages and towns, farming communities, lakeside retreats and vacation hotels/resorts near golf courses, country clubs, and marinas. The regional government seat is Bracebridge and the largest population centre is Huntsville.

Muskoka has 60,000 permanent residents, but an additional 100,000 seasonal property owners spend their summers in the region every year, making it a major summer destination. Many of the seasonal properties are large mansion-like summer estates, some of which have been passed down through families from generation to generation. Most of these expensive properties can be found along the shores of Muskoka’s three major lakes: Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau, and Lake Joseph. Muskoka has been recognized by National Geographic Traveler magazine as a special place to live and visit. It was named one of their top 20 Best of the World destinations and was chosen as the #1 pick for the Ten Best Summer Trips. Recently, Muskoka was recognized as one of the 100 Places that Can Change Your Child’s Life. These endorsements are testament to the Muskoka experience and its quality of life.
